Lancaster offers no guarantees

England coach Stuart Lancaster says not even hat-trick hero Billy Vunipola is guaranteed to start Saturday's first Test with Argentina.

The 20-year-old No.8 proved to be the star of the show in Sunday's warm-up match against CONSUR XV in Montevideo as he scored a six-minute hat-trick in England's 41-21 win.

Despite the impressive performance by Vunipola, Lancaster says no decisions have been made on his starting XV for this Saturday's first of two games with the Pumas.

The England coach said while he was happy with how clinical Vunipola had been, he would offer no guarantees to the Wasps star, or anyone else, that they would feature against Argentina.

"He had a good game in terms of try-scoring," Lancaster said. "I need to look at his contribution and those of all the others in back row because there are lots of decisions to be made.

"The breakdown was fiercely contested and at times we didn't deliver as good ball as we had wanted. I have some decisions to make as to how we go about the game.

"In terms of preparation it has been ideal. They were difficult opposition and we struggled in the first quarter and the last quarter to get the continuity we wanted."
