Juan Martin Del Potro vs Gilles Muller : Vienna Open semi-final preview

Returning after a month on the sidelines – Juan Martin Del Potro today takes on Marinco Matosevic in the semi-final match of the ATP 250 event in Vienna. The top seed here, the Argentine is getting some match practice ahead of the upcoming ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Placed at No.7 in the ATP rankings, Del Potro has not been able to live up to his billing since winning his maiden Grand Slam at the US Open in 2009. The 23-year old Argentine has 10 career titles to his name and has managed to win two titles this year as well - one in Marseille and the other at the Estoril Open. His win-loss record stands at 53-14, which characterizes his form this year. The towering right hander won the Bronze medal in the London Olympics and was in good form at the US Open too, but then got an injury on his left wrist due to which he got sidelined.

Muller is a former US Open Junior champion and has a big serve. Though he lacks a bit of consistency in his game but on his day, he can give the best a tough time. He is presently ranked at 81 in the world and has 18/19 win loss record this year.

Both players have met once at Australian Open in 2009 where the Argentine won in four sets.
