As 2014 ended, the international business numbers are starting to get released across the world, including the top importers and exporters in the world; among them, it has been revealed that Paraguay beef has become the sixth largest in the world, beating fellow South American country Uruguay.

However, even though Paraguay beef has shown an amazing growth over the past year, as 2015 sees its first days, the South American product faces a big challenge: the country's biggest buyer, Russia, is currently entering a crisis due to the economic sanctions imposed by the United States and other Western countries, so the Vladimir Putin led government might not be able to meet Paraguayan expectations.
According to MercoPress South Atlantic News Agency, Paraguay beef exports (between meat and meat products) reached $1.6 billion in 2014, as announced by the head of the country's quality in health animals; this is actually an amazing increase of 20 percent over 2013, when Paraguay earned a total revenue of $1.3 billion over their beef exports.
"The growth of Paraguayan livestock has been running at between 5-5.5 per cent by volume for 13 years that that has allowed us to continue to grow," said German Ruiz, the current president of the main Paraguay beef conglomerate, the Rural Association of Paraguay (ARP), according to The Cattle Site.
This makes the South American country top another huge beef exporter in the world, nearby country Uruguay, one of the most stable in the region following years of economic and political wellbeing.
These numbers make Paraguay the second biggest beef exporter in South America, following Brazil, which is the top exporter in the entire world, according to Index Mundi, followed by India, Australia, the United States and New Zealand. Another top South American exporter of beef is Argentina, but the production has decreased in recent times, and many argue it's because of restrictive taxes that president Cristina Fernandez Kirchner has put on producers.
In any case, it is still unknown whether Paraguay beef will enter new markets in 2015, like the prospect of exporting to the United States, though Global Meat News states that the country's going through the compliance of American demands to perhaps introduce the product there eventually.
