Lancaster wants new faces to shine

England head coach Stuart Lancaster is keen for his seven new charges to show what they can do against the Consur XV on Sunday.

England kick off their tour of South America this weekend with a number of new faces in the ranks and Lancaster will hand debuts to seven stars in Uruguay.

Luther Burrell, Stephen Myler, Kyle Eastmond, Jonny May, Kearnan Myall, Henry Thomas and Billy Vunipola are all set to make their debut for the Red Rose, with two Tests against Argentina on June 8 and June 15 to follow.

It is therefore a great opportunity for the new faces to impress the management, and Lancaster feels that is the prime motivation behind summer trips away.

"This tour is about giving players opportunities to show their talent," he said. "The players understand this responsibility and are looking forward to the challenge."

And the 43-year-old tactician is under no illusions as to the size of the task his men face, with Sunday's opponents looking to impress their vociferous fans.

"Everyone involved will need to hit the ground running in Uruguay because we expect the Sudamerica side to play with a lot of skill and physicality in front of a passionate home crowd," he added. "It is England's first ever match on Uruguayan soil and should be a great occasion for all concerned."
