AVB alerted by Higuain exit

Tottenham are one of a number of clubs who have been alerted to the news that Real Madrid intend to sell Gonzalo Higuain.

Andre Villas-Boas tried to land the Argentina striker last summer but Spain's illustrious capital club did not want to sell. That situation has now changed and Los Blancos' general manager, Jose Angel Sanchez, has confirmed the highly-rated 25-year-old will be leaving Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

He said: "In a great club like Real, we believe we need two number nines of a high level.

"We have Benzema and Higuain, Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come."

The north Londoners will not be alone, as Manchester City and arch rivals Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the former River Plate forward.
