The first Pan American Gliding Championship was held this spring at the McMinn Co. Airport attracting competitive soaring pilots from Canada, the United States, Argentina, and many other countries. Competition organizer, Sarah Arnold describes the event and the experience of soaring with the birds above Chilhowee Mountain in an aircraft that is dependent on natural sources of lift.
Greater Chattanooga is a short film series that explores the people and ideas that "make us all more aware, happier, and stronger as a community." Viewers can find these online videos both through wtciTV.org and, greaterchattanooga.org. Viewers can watch with phones, computers and tablets via YouTube, Facebook and the website and can also on HD televisions using products like Apple TV and Roku and the free PBS app.
WTCI broadcast viewers can see interstitials that preview these stories throughout the broadcast schedule, followed by a message directing them to see the complete films online at greaterchattanooga.org. This summer, the short films will be collected in a new half-hour broadcast where viewers will see a variety of topics addressed, including arts and culture, business, news and public affairs.
The Greater Chattanooga series has explored technology, innovation, music, fan conventions, local history and now “LIFT” will take our audience through the skies to experience the world of competitive soaring.
