‘World’s First Transgender Doll’ Sparks Controversy In Argentina (Photo)

A fairy toy dubbed "the world’s first transgender doll" has shocked Argentinian parents, who say the doll could influence their child’s sexuality.

The toy was first discovered by a mother in Argentina who posted pictures of the doll’s seemingly extra genitalia to Facebook. It’s unknown whether or not the addition was intentional or a factory defect.

Though many parents have questioned whether or not the doll could influence their children’s sexuality, the Argentinian transgender community has noted that dolls like that could have made their childhood lives easier. Some in newspapers, TV and radio across the country have argued that the doll could be a positive representation of sexual diversity for children.

“It doesn’t matter to a child whether their toy has male genitalia or not,” child psychologist Ricardo Rodulfo said. “The idea causes more disturbance among adults.”

The so-called transgender dolls are still on sale at an Argentinian toy shop known as Once.
