The Japanese duo Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Rurouni Kenshin: Legend Ends combined for $95m as local language releases in 2014 contributed more than $153m to Warner Bros’ $3.17bn overall international gross.
Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno generated $53m while Rurouni Kenshin: Legend Ends produced $42m.
Argentina’s Oscar hopeful Wild Tales (Relatos Salvajes, pictured) delivered $28m and a record $18m for a local title in Argentina. It also ranks as the biggest Argentinian film across Latin America.
Italy’s Un Boss In Salotto took $18m (€12.8m) and finished the year as the top local title of 2014 in Italy.
Honig Im Kopf from Germany stands at $12m and raced to $10.3m (€8.5m) last year after the December 25 debut, scoring a record opening weekend for a Til Schweiger film and the best debut for a German production.
Honig also collected the Bogey award for achieving more than 1,000 admissions per site in its opening weekend.
