THE HAGUE, Netherlands — The United States women have reached the field hockey World Cup semifinals for the first time in 20 years after beating South Africa 4-2 on Tuesday.
Second-half goals from Katie Reinprecht, Rachel Lawson and captain Lauren Crandall ensured the 10th-ranked Americans won their group and will meet Australia.
Defending champion Argentina drew 1-1 against China and set up a rematch of the 2010 final against unbeaten host side the Netherlands.
In the men's draw, Argentina beat South Africa 5-1 to cement a semifinal berth, and will face either Australia or England.
