Buenos Aires, Feb 5 (EFE).- The Rolling Stones arrived Friday in Argentina where they will be staying for ten days to perform three concerts as part of their "America Latina Ole Tour" which kicked off in Chile on Wednesday.
The veteran rockers arrived by private plane at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires and later, surrounded by a heavy security escort, the members split into vans heading towards different hotels in the center of the capital, Argentina's official news agency Telam reported.
The security awaiting the arrival of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts was tight, but it did not stop a handful of followers from waiting on the tarmac where the band members landed.
This is the British rockers' fourth visit to Argentina, after their concerts there in 1995, 1998 and 2006.
Excitement runs high for their appearance, as the tickets for the three concerts sold out in record time, only a few hours after ticket sales opened.
The Estadio Unico stadium, in La Plata, the capital of the province of Buenos Aires, will host 53,000 people for each performance of the band, who will play such hit songs as "Angie" and "Satisfaction" on the upcoming Feb. 7, 10 and 13 shows.
The Rolling Stones stage setup includes a 56-meter wide structure along with a 40-meter long drop-down platform and a wall of LED screens which arrived in Argentina a few days ago and was transported in pieces on two planes from the United States.
In La Plata, around 60 kilometers from Buenos Aires, nearly all hotel rooms were booked up days ago for the band's concert dates.
The Rolling Stones will also be touring Brazil and Mexico and will make their first appearances in Colombia, Peru and Uruguay.
