The Kenya National Sevens team will kick off their Glasgow Sevens campaign with a tough fixture against Wales at Scotstoun stadium in Scotland.

All eyes will be on head coach Paul Treu and the tactics he will use for the final two legs of the circuit.

Since taking over the Kenya team role, Treu opted not to select sweepers from the previous regime and instead opted to convert winger Collins Injera into that critical position.

Many have argued that this has limited the potential of Injera, who is known for his pace and power, which is an attribute that is needed at the wings, and which is what is currently lacking on the squad, which is not winning as many games as they would have liked to.

Treu has since changed his stance on selection and has called Kenya Harlequins and Strathmore sweepers Felix Ayange and Michael Wanjala to the squad.

This means that he might opt for one of them to start in the squad, which would free up Injera to play in his traditional wing position.

Treu has come under close scrutiny for his selection ahead of games and whether he will get it right in Scotland, will be known today.

This is Kenya’s toughest pool in the circuit, with all three teams in group above the top ten in the overall series standings, where Kenya is currently ranked in ninth position.

Wales are expecting some of their key players back from injury and they are sure to be troublesome.

Whereas Kenya’s second game of the day is expected to be tougher, when they take on 3rd placed Fiji' Fiji in the overall standings.

Kenya has a poor track record against Fiji' Fiji, who they met last in Hong Kong, where the Pacific side whitewashed Kenya 43-5 in a one-sided error ridden match that exposed the frailties of the Kenyan side.
