Sergio Aguero gives latest injury update ahead of Man City star’s return

Sergio Agüero insists he won’t rush his return to first-team action with Manchester City.

The Argentina international is currently nursing a hamstring injury which has kept him sidelined since a 2-0 loss to Barcelona at The Etihad last month.

I do think to myself if something happens now, I will lose the rest of the Premier League season and the World Cup

With City facing a daunting trip to Liverpool in mid-April, Manuel Pellegrini could do with the services of his 15-goal South American striker.

However, Agüero is worried that he could further aggravate his injury if the 25-year-old rushes back to first-team action ahead of the World Cup.

“With this recovery I am trying to do my best to be able to play again, but I cannot do it in a hurry,” Agüero told DirecTV.

“I do think to myself if something happens now, I will lose the rest of the Premier League season and the World Cup.”

Agüero also revealed Pellegrini has told the former Atlético Madrid man that he can’t leave until he helps City win their first Champions League crown.

“He says to me that I can’t leave without winning a Champions League,” said Agüero.

“That’s the objective of each player in Europe.”
