Scocco becomes a Black Cat

Sunderland have signed Ignacio Scocco on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Internacional.

The Argentina international, who has joined for an undisclosed fee, is the fourth January signing for the Black Cats following the arrivals of Marcos Alonso, Oscar Ustari and Santiago Vergini.

The 28-year-old won an Apertura championship with Newell's Old Boys in 2004 before moving on to Mexican side Pumas UNAM, scoring 18 goals in 53 appearances for the club. He then joined AEK Athens where he made 88 appearances and from there he enjoyed spells with Al-Ain and Newell's.

He was in the stands on Wednesday night as his new club defeated Stoke 1-0 to climb out of the relegation zone.
