Rugby World Cup: South Africa defeat Argentina to clinch bronze

South Africa defeated Argentina 24-13 at the The Stadium, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, to clinch the bronze medal in the 2015 edition of the Rugby World Cup. Pieterson earned South Africa a try in the 6th minute and Pollard converted it in the next minute to give South Africa a 7-0 lead. In the 10th minute, Pollard scored off a penalty and extended the Springboks lead to 10-0. Two more penalty conversions by Pollard before half time gave South Africa a 16-0 lead.

In the second half, a drop goal by Sanchez opened the scoring for Argentina with the score at 16-3. In the next minute, South Africa responded aggressively as Etzebeth earned a try to make it 21-3 for South Africa. Pollard this time missed on the conversion though but a few minutes later he scored of another penalty to make the score 24-3.

In the 52nd minute Sanchez scored a penalty to make the score 24-6. In the dying stages of the match, Orlandi earned a try for Argentina and Sanchez converted it to make the final score 24-13. Sanchez ended the tournament with 97 points, and Pollard ended the tournament with 93 points. The Argentina fly-half is the top points scorer at RWC 2015 and can only realistically be beaten by Australian Bernard Foley, who would need to score 22 points against New Zealand in the final to draw level with Sanchez and 23 to take the no.1 spot.
