A 5.9 earthquake that shook northern Argentina's Salta province was also felt in the Paraguayan capital of Asuncion on Saturday morning, the Directorate of Seismology of the National University of Asuncion said.
The earthquake, which caused at least one death in the Salta, was felt in various parts of the Paraguayan capital and employees of some buildings were evacuated, although there were no reports of injuries.
The United States Geological Survey said the quake had a depth of 18 kilometers and lasted more than three minutes.
In Salta, a woman reportedly died after the collapse of a school in the municipality of El Galpon.

"Homes collapsed, families have been left with nothing, schools have been destroyed. We have one fatality, who was crushed," said the mayor of El Galpon, Hector Romero, some 160 km from Salta's capital, speaking to a local radio station.
Other reports indicated that there were several injuries and extensive property damage.
