The announcers even said it after Argentina's victory against the Netherlands in the semifinals.
They said it was Brazil's worst nightmare. Well, guess what would be worse? Argentina winning it all on Brazil soil.
That is the extra sort of inspiration the team will need against a very tough Germany squad which dominated Brazil in the semifinal.
But while the world seems to be all saying Germany gets the win today, I believe that is mostly because of what it did against Brazil.
Argentina is not Brazil. Argentina is very good on the defensive end, allowing just three goals during this World Cup. And it will be able to slow down the tough Germans today.
Add in the fact Lionel Messi has been at his best for most of this tournament and also has a lot to play for personally, and it adds up to a big win today for the country.
You see, a big win today would put Messi in rare air, with the likes of Diego Maradona.
Messi is the key to Argentina and when he is on his game, as he has been for most of this tournament, Germany will be in for a long day.
But Messi needs to be aggressive and find ways to get open, unlike the semifinals when he found himself double- and triple-teamed.
Plus, is there a better way to send out Argentina's head coach than a victory on Brazilian soil?
It all adds up to a bit more inspiration, and when two teams are as closely matched as these two, that drive could be the difference in winning and losing.
The game will be hotly contested, but in the end, I think, Messi and Argentina get it done and celebrate in Brazil.
