Pope’s team plays Copa Libertadores final with chance to win its 1st major …

SAO PAULO - Pope Francis' favourite team has a chance to win its first major international title.

Argentine club San Lorenzo will host Paraguayan rival Nacional on Wednesday in the final of the Copa Libertadores. The teams drew 1-1 last week in the first leg in Paraguay.

A home victory will be enough to give the pope's team its most important trophy in its 106-year history.

Nacional is also trying to win the Copa Libertadores for the first time.

San Lorenzo is one of the traditional clubs in Argentina yet to win the Latin American club competition. The team made headlines around the world after Pope Francis acknowledged that he is an avid supporter of the club.
