Tevez Wants Boca Return
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez says he will return to Argentina once his current deal at the Etihad Stadium expires.
In an interview with Argentine radio programme Rock Closs, the 28-year-old says that City want him to sign up for two more years after his current deal comes to an end in June 2014 but that he wants to go back to Boca Juniors, the Buenos Aires side where he began his career. Tevez added that while he would prefer to go back straight away he will have to see out his time with City.
“My desire is to return, but it is very difficult. I will stay two years in Europe and will then go back,” said the Argentina international.
“I miss my club and my people,” he added. “One has to go back and play better than before you left, because if you play badly they will not forgive you and will say that I am stealing.
“I have already said that I want to retire in a Boca shirt. That is a dream for me and my family. Following the World Cup, I can see me ending the contract and going to Boca.
“I would love to be playing for Boca against River Plate. I’d prefer that to playing against Fulham.”
Tevez spent part of his youth with Boca and made his debut for the club in 2001. After three years with the club he moved on to Brazilian club Corinthians before heading to West Ham in 2006.
Tevez’s comments are a far cry from a year ago when he appeared ready to quit the club for AC Milan after going absent from City in November 2011. He returned to England three months later.
Derby Want To Keep Hughes
Derby County aren’t willing to do a deal for 17-year-old midfielder Will Hughes until the end of the season, according to reports today.
Manchester City assistant manager David Platt went to watch Hughes play in Derby’s match at Brighton last weekend leading to speculation about a City bid this month but press reports today claim that even a bid of of £10million for Hughes will be rejected by County this month as the club’s American owners are hopeful he will be part of a side which challenges for promotion.
The Rams currently lie in eighth place in the Championship, eight points behind a play-off spot and 12 points behind one of the automatic promotion places.
