Johor Cup: India Junior Hockey Team Beat Argentina

The Indian junior hockey team came up with a 3-2 win against Argentina in the Sultan of Johor Cup held in Malaysia.

The Indian junior hockey team forwards were on top of their game and broke through the opponents defense in the 3rd minute itself. Arman Qureshi was the scorer and just 8 minutes later, India found their second goal through Gurjant Singh. Despite the two-goal cushion, Indian kept the pressure on Argentina throughout the match. Argentina, on the other hand, failed to find a break in the first half and when the half-time whistle blew, the score read 2-0 in favor of the Indian junior hockey team.

Johor Cup Hockey: Argentina Strikes back in the second half

Argentina came out with all guns blazing in the second half and returned a goal through Captain Maico Casella in the 39th minute. India responded back soon and made the score 3-1 through the goal of Nilakanta Sharma. Argentina drew blood once again in the 54th minute when Nicolas Keenan scored but it ended up being just a consolation goal as India preserved their lead and took home the match.

India will now face Malaysia in the tournament and will be looking to keep their momentum going in the Sultan of Johor Cup Hockey tournament.
