Report: Argentina, Saturday
San Isidro: Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (Grade 1) 1m4f, turf, 3yo+
HI HAPPY (Perdro Nickel Filho/Altair Domingos) took his record to a perfect six wins from six starts to claim Argentina's most important contest and cement his position as the leading three-year-old in South America.
With victory in the AR$3,400,000 contest (£229,000) Hi Happy receives an invitation to take part in the Group 1 Qipco King George VI Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot next summer.
Hi Happy already stood head and shoulders above his rivals in the three-year-old division having won the Clasico Dos Mil Guineas, Gran Premio Jockey Club and Grand Premio Nacional as part of a perfect year.
However, taking on the older horses presented Hi Happy with another challenge and he handled it with aplomb, cruising into contention on the bridle in the home straight under rider Altair Domingos.
Once in the lead Hi Happy never looked in danger of being caught despite Don Inc closing from the rear, Domingos merely pushing out Hi Happy to win before celebrating wildly as he crossed the line.
"He is one very good colt," Domingos told the Thoroughbred Daily News.
