AKRON, Ohio — Goodyear Tire Rubber Co. is moving its Latin American headquarters in Brazil back to Akron along with 30 to 50 jobs.
A Goodyear spokesman says the company is closing its Latin American regional office in Sao Paulo and is moving it back to northeast Ohio sometime in 2015. That office moved from Akron to Brazil in 2005.
The company says the move only affects the regional headquarters and that the company's Brazilian office will remain in Sao Paulo. He says bringing the Latin American headquarters back to Akron will reduce costs and increase efficiency.
The company shared the news with Akron city officials on Monday.
