Eight sports stars filming a French reality television show died in a fireball
when their helicopters collided mid-air in a remote part of Argentina.
Among the dead were champion sailor Florence Arthaud, Olympic gold medallist
swimmer Camille Muffat and Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine.
Two pilots were also killed in the fireball, which occurred in the rugged
mountains of La Rioja province, in northwestern Argentina.
The party were filming Dropped, a popular survival series on French television
channel TF1. The show involves eight sports stars being dropped into
inhospitable environments for an adventure and survival themed reality
series.
