The Consumer Confidence Index retreated slightly 0.6% to 43.66 in November from 43.94 the month before, and remained well below the 50 level that indicates neutrality. Although the market has received mixed data in the past weeks highlighting some minor improvements in the economy, anxiety and uncertainty continue to be high among consumers which, in turn, hinders demand and underscores the loss of faith in the government. For now, it is important to understand that as long as confidence stay at remarkable low levels, economic activity will likely follow suit and remain in the doldrums.
