Buenos Aires, Argentina (SportsNetwork.com) - Leandro Miguel Fernandez scored two minutes from time on Saturday to lift Godoy Cruz to a wild 4-3 win over Atletico Rafaela at the Estadio Nuevo Monumental.
Godoy Cruz entered the match in desperate need of points, sitting in the bottom third of the table and riding a three-match winless run in league play.
The traveling side got off to a quick start on Saturday as Jaime Ayovi found the back of the net after eight minutes, but it was quickly canceled out when Walter Omar Serrano fired home an equalizer for Atletico in the 22nd minute.
Seven minutes later Godoy Cruz went back in front through Ruben Dario Ramirez and Ayovi added his second tally of the match three minutes before the intermission to widen the margin to 3-1 at the break.
The goals kept coming in the second half as Federico Rafael Gonzalez made it 3-2 four minutes into the second period and Nicolas Orsini scored in the 52nd minute to put the sides on level terms at 3-3.
Godoy Cruz had the last laugh as Fernandez found the back of the net in the 88th minute to hand all three points to the visiting side.
The result moves Godoy Cruz into 15th place in the table with 17 points, while Atletico Rafaela remains in seventh place on 22 points.
Also in Argentina on Saturday, Adrian Nahuel Martinez and Mauricio Cuero scored first-half goals to give Olimpo a 2-1 win over Quilmes, while Belgrano coasted to a 3-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Defensa y Justicia.
Lucas Matias Licht scored in the 59th minute to give Gimnasia LP a 1-0 result over Independiente.
On Sunday, Ezequiel Cerutti scored in the 28th minute as Estudiantes earned three points with a 1-0 win over Rosario Central, while Gustavo Bou's eighth- minute goal gave Racing a 1-0 win against Banfield.
Emmanuel Gigliotti scored twice in the final 20 minutes of play to lift Boca Juniors to a 2-0 win over Tigre, while Milton Caraglio and Gabriel Mercado traded goals as Velez Sarsfield and River Plate battled to a 1-1 draw.
On Friday, Lautaro Acosta netted in the 90th minute to lift Lanus to a 3-2 win over Arsenal.
Monday's action saw Newell's top San Lorenzo, 3-1, as Maxi Rodriguez scored twice for Newell's, which also got a goal from Ignacio Scocco as the team scored twice in the final 23 minutes to break a 1-1 deadlock.
