--> A high profile trade delegation of businessmen from Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) has left for Brazil and Argentina to explore the Brazilian and Argentina Markets for traditional and non-traditional Pakistani products.
Senior Vice President, FCCI Riazul Haq will be taking the delegation while Jamil Ahmad, FCCI Committee Chairman on International Affairs and Trade Delegations will be the official spokesperson, said Engr Suhail Bin Rashid President FCCI, while addressing to the delegates and other businessmen here at FCCI.
He said that the FCCI delegation comprises 21 businesspeople from different sectors, like textiles, sugar, machinery, agriculture, poultry, paper pulp, gems jewellery, iron steel, pharmaceuticals, food, IT, service sectors etc. Brazil is the largest trade partner of Pakistan in Latin America and Pakistan's exports to Brazil increased by more than 100 per cent from the year 2009 to 2012 - ie, from 44 million US dollars to 92 million US dollars in 2012. Similarly, Argentina is also an important trading partner of Pakistan.
There is tremendous trade potential between Argentina and Pakistan and there exists wider scope of co-operation to enhance bilateral trade between the two countries, he added. He said that Pakistan-MERCOSUR Framework Agreement on Trade was signed on 21 July 2006, which has also initiated the process of negotiations between Pakistan and MERCOSUR to conclude a Preferential Trade Agreement, which now needs to be stepped up after a long-time of six years. Chamber Chief said that such type of trade delegations from FCCI will be a continuous process to traditional, non-traditional and regional markets to boost the bilateral trade and exports of Pakistan.
