Dow LDPE, HDPE plants in Argentina remain down

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical low density polyethylene (LDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) plants in Bahia Blanca, Argentina, will remain shut down until the first week of November, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday.

Both plants stopped operations without planning, the source said.

The impact on the Argentina resins supply was unknown. However, another market source said LDPE resins were limited this week.

Dow’s Bahia Blanca facility has a HDPE capacity of 120,000 tonnes/year and another of 150,000 tonnes/year; an LDPE plant of 290,000 tonnes/year, and another of 90,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS plants and projects.
