CONMEBOL: August 12, 2014 - Colombian striker Teo Gutierrez started the Argentine championship with another demonstration of his refined nose for goal still intact. He scored the goal for River Plate in a 1-1 draw against Gimnasia La Plata.
Tefilo Gutirrez took only half hour to make his mark as he entered the second half and took advantage of goalkeeper Monetti coming out of his box to beat him with a header.
Gutierrez found company in the attack with Uruguayan Rodrigo Mora, who also showed good form in the second half.
Together they revitalized River's attack after a lackluster start.
"This is a very strong group. We want to be champions," said Gutierrez.
The striker said "the kids have to learn from the older ones. One has to keep trying and improving..."
The future of 'Teo' is in doubt, as the striker made clear his intention to continue his career in Europe and the next three weeks will be important to see if any offers come through. If not he will continue with River.
