Arsenal have refused to increase their bid for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, leading to a standoff between the English side and the Spanish giants.
The Gunners are believed to be ready to pay €26m for the Argentina striker, even though they have not yet submitted an official bid for the player.
Real Madrid though have indicated that they want a minimum of €40m for Higuain and will not settle for less.
And, according to Spanish daily Marca, this situation is further complicated by the fact that Higuain is keen to leave.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti had been hoping to convince the striker to stay put, but it is believed that Higuain is ready to go if an interested party can agree a fee with Los Blancos.
For now the Argentine waits.
A transfer may not hinge on Arsenal though, with Higuain having indicated that Chelsea, under former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho, are keen to snap him up this summer.
He has also been linked with Italian Serie A club Napoli, who have been boosted to the tune of €64.5m from selling Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain.
