CFK: ‘The State must reach every corner’

In a speech broadcasted live on national television and radio today, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner used most of the time to praise her government’s achievements.

She highlighted the “role of the State” in the economy, one of the foundations of the Kirchnerite proposal, while “some” political leaders “play dumb” regarding public investment in infrastructure.

“Few talk about the role of the State, not because they don’t know about it but because they play dumb,” she fired.

“Our administration articulates the role of the worker along the role of the capital to make a country grow and build a nation,” she went on in a heated speech.

“No one can teach us how to make economy grow,” the head of state said.

As she inaugurated hydroelectric works in the province and announced financial assistance for “Los Blancos” hydroelectric complex, she said many of these initiatives have been waiting for years. “We Argentines have grey hair for all the things we should have done and they weren’t done.”

During her speech, she praised the Argentine wine industry and announced the reopening of a wine exporter registry for shipments which could not be exported, mentioning again “the sole of the State which is present to sustain these private companies which create employment for Argentine workers.”

She dedicated part of her speech to refer to the nuclear energy in Argentina stating that the country “inspires confidence in scientific matters” and guaranteeing “we will continue building nuclear plants in Argentina.”

“Argentina uses nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, not to build nuclear weapons,” she stressed.

“We are not interested in the offensive power. We are interested in defending human life, in defending peace.”

The president was joined by Governor Francisco "Paco" Pérez and other local government officials.
