Brown overlooked by Scotland for November tests

EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) Kelly Brown has been overlooked by Scotland for the November test matches, less than a year after captaining his country in the Six Nations.

The flanker was the most high-profile absentee in the 33-man squad named by new coach Vern Cotter on Monday ahead of games against Argentina, New Zealand and Tonga next month.

Lock Grant Gilchrist was retained as captain after being given the armband for two tests.

Seventeen of the squad were picked from in-form Scottish side Glasgow Warriors.

Flankers Ross Rennie and David Denton, and flyhalf Ruaridh Jackson miss out through injury.

Cotter says his focus has been "developing an attack that will give us opportunities to score tries or earn points through teams being forced to infringe."
