Bosnia-Herzegovina take on Iran in the Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador on Wednesday evening, with only the Asian side left fighting for qualification to the round of 16.
Safet Susic’s side were eliminated from the World Cup after the 1-0 defeat to Nigeria left them without a point after two games. Iran need to win to have any chance of escaping Group F.
Argentina have already qualified for the second phase, but they need to avoid defeat to Nigeria to secure the top spot. That should give Iran all the hope they need.
Carlos Queiroz’s well-drilled side are still in contention despite failing to score a single goal in both their opening games. However, their well-disciplined performance against Argentina will give them great belief. Only Lionel Messi’s extraordinary late strike stopped them winning a second point.
Iran will only go through if they win and Nigeria lose with the winning margin in either game being greater than one.
However, a 1-0 win for Iran joined with a 1-0 victory for Argentina would leave them and Nigeria completely level, and mean their fate would be decided by the drawing of lots.
The 90 minutes should be a topsy-turvy affair. Live coverage for the game will begin around 30 minutes before the game starts. Kick-off is at 5 p.m BST (1 p.m EDT)
