Boca Juniors stay on top despite 0-0 draw at La Bombonera

Boca Juniors managed only a 0-0 draw against lowly Nueva Chicago on Sunday, earning the lone point needed to keep the famous Buenos Aires club in a share of first place in Argentina's first division.

Nueva Chicago, near the bottom in the 30-team league, relied on goalkeeper Alejandro Sanchez who came up with at least half-dozen key saves to frustrate Boca fans in the home match at La Bombonera.

The draw improved Boca to 21 points, the same as San Lorenzo and Rosario Central.

In other matches on Sunday, Lanus won 2-1 at Banfield, Olimpo drew 0-0 at home against Defensa y Justicia, and Sarmiento won 1-0 at Union.

On Saturday, San Lorenzo defeated Independiente 1-0 and Rosario Central won 2-1 against San Martin.
