Banega joined the Europa League champions from Valencia over the summer after spending the second half of last term in his native Argentina with Newell's Old Boys.
The 26-year-old had previously worked under boss Unai Emery at Valencia and the Spaniard believes his quality can help to try and replace Ivan Rakitic, who joined Barcelona this summer.
The Argentina international is hoping that he can hit the ground running for his new side, who missed out on Champions League football last term by seven points, finishing fifth behind Athletic Bilbao who claimed the final spot.
Banega said: "This team has a base of several years. Players come and go but the base is maintained. There is a healthy competition.
"Sevilla are a big team fighting for great things. This year we hope to do it in the best way and get into the Champions League positions.
"We'll try to get as far as possible in all three competitions but it's important to get into the Champions League."
