Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain is set to snub approaches from both Liverpool and Arsenal, and is happy at Napoli – according to his brother.
Liverpool are already considering replacing Mario Balotelli after his dismal start to life at Anfield and Higuain s near the top of Brendan Rodgers’ list of potential candidates.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking for another striker to support and compete with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as they try and enhance their title chances.
But according to the Express, Higuain’s brother has said his sibling does not want to leave Napoli despite not being involved in the Champions League this term.
Federico Higuain said: “I have read and heard a lot of things about my brother, but none of these correspond to reality.
"People have spoken of the disappointment of not qualifying for the Champions League, and that this has caused resentment from Gonzalo.
"Nothing could be further from the truth. When I speak to my brother he is calm, and happy to wear the shirt of Napoli.
"His future is still with the Partenopei."
Arsenal may now have to turn their attention elsewhere in January, and will be looking for at least one other central defender as well as a striker.
Liverpool could recall Divock Origi from Lille but it seems the French side will do what they can to prevent that from happening, and Rodgers ma have to persevere with the misfiring Balotelli.
