Zoe King had one of the fastest bike rides in Sunday's duathlon.
Argentinian Andres Di Leo repeated his success in last week's Masters Games cross triathlon, winning Sunday's duathlon at Rabbit Island.
The victory was hard-won, with Alan Bryson matching Di Leo stride for stride in the opening 4km run and sticking with him on the 15km mountainbike ride over a tricky forest course at Rabbit Island.
Adding to the mix was Glenn Bathgate. In a final hitout before heading for the world duathlon championships in Adelaide in two weeks, Bathgate had the leaders in his sights at the end of the run and rode them down with the quickest bike ride of the day, going to the lead as they approached the final 2km run.
Di Leo had too much steam in the end, drawing away to win in 58min 36sec, 14 seconds ahead of Bryson, with Bathgate a further 20 seconds back in 59min 40sec.
Zoe King was a couple of minutes off the men's pace in the opening run, but made up for it on the bike, with the second-quickest ride of the day and holding on in the final run for fourth place in 1hr 2min 15sec - three seconds ahead of Billy Bathgate, the 16-year-old recording the second-fastest time of the day over the final 2km run in his effort to catch King.
The younger Bathgate also has the Adelaide World Championships in his sights.
Jeff Shultz (1.02.34) and Robbie Hill (1.03.43) were next to finish, ahead of Pogo McAuley (1.06.40), the second female finisher.
In the short duathlon option, Michelle Richardson cleared out for a comfortable win in 51min 22sec, ahead of Louise Holley (55.54), Barb Pauling (56.12) and Abbie Grant (56.19).
Steve Pauling (53.24) and Clare Weyers (59.02) dominated the walking duathlon.
