Argentina: Wife of Jewish Community Leader Shot During Robbery

daiaThe wife of Dr. Julio Schlosser, the president of an umbrella Jewish community organization in Argentina known as DAIA, was shot by an unknown assailant on Saturday during a robbery in Buenos Aires. Mrs. Schlosser was wounded by the gunfire and is currently hospitalized in intensive care. The intruder reportedly shot at the couple while they were visiting friends in Buenos Aires’ Flores neighborhood.

Two individuals who were riding a motorcycle attacked the Schlossers and fired gunshots at them. The police stated that the couple had not attempted to resist the robbers, who escaped from the scene with Mrs. Schlosser’s purse, YNet reported.

According to the police, the criminals also tried to shoot Dr. Schlosser, but it is believed that the bullets were not fired because there was a stopper in the gun.

DAIA is a political organization that represents the Jewish community in Argentina.

Over the past several months, Buenos Aires has been hit by a wave of crime, with a particularly notable increase in armed robberies. An Israeli source disclosed that perpetrators of armed robberies in Argentina tend to shoot their victims regardless of the victim’s level of cooperation.
