Argentina is scheduled to receive a
spot cargo of liquefied natural gas from Trinidad Tobago
today, according to ship-tracking data.
The SCF Polar, with a capacity of 71,500 cubic meters, is
set to arrive at the port of Recalada near Buenos Aires,
according to ship transmissions captured by IHS Fairplay on
Bloomberg. The tanker sailed from Atlantic LNG Co.’s Point
Fortin terminal, where it loaded the supercooled natural gas and
departed April 5.
Officials from Energia Argentina SA, the state-run energy
company known as Enarsa, and Atlantic LNG didn’t immediately
respond to e-mails seeking comment outside normal working hours.
Enarsa and YPF SA (YPFD) have leased Excelerate Energy’s LNG
vessel, the GNL Escobar, and docked it on the Parana River close
to Buenos Aires to receive the fuel, according to Excelerate’s
website. The floating regasification facility began operating in
May 2011.
Argentina has no long-term LNG-supply contracts, according
to data compiled by Bloomberg. Enarsa and YPF have issued six
spot purchase tenders seeking as many as 143 cargoes from
December last year. YPF’s latest tender for 10 LNG shipments
delivered in the second half of 2013 closed April 10.
The SCF Arctic, with a capacity of 71,500 cubic meters,
last delivered a shipment from Atlantic LNG to Recalada on April
12, IHS Fairplay data show.
