Argentina is hoping that trade with India would double to $4 billion in the next five years. In 2012-13, trade between both countries stood at $1.8 billion. “We expect that the bilateral trade between India and Argentina to more than double to $4 billion in the next five years from the current level as there is a huge untapped potential,” Province of San Luis, Argentina Governor Claudio Poggi said at an event organised by FICCI on Monday.
A 60-member delegation, including industrialists and government representatives are visiting India. Chemicals, vehicles and auto parts, plastic goods, machinery, garment and synthetic fibre are some of the Indian exports to Argentina.
Argentina has opened its first commercial, cultural and tourism office in Chennai to boost its bilateral ties with India. “We have opened an office in Chennai because we are looking for a long-term bond with India. I feel there will be a considerable increase in trade and investment level,” Poggi said.
