World Rugby: LONDON, 21 Oct Juan Imhoff's swan dive as he scored his second try in Argentina's 43-20 quarter-final win over Ireland has made front and back pages in recent days, but the wing is not intending to repeat the flamboyant celebration.
Imhoff's score seven minutes from time at Cardiffs Millennium Stadium wrapped up a thumping victory for the South Americans, with the dive his expression of joy at reaching the semi-finals.
But with Australia next up at Twickenham on Sunday, the 27-year-old admits he may need to temper those emotions if he scores again, due to the risk of failing to ground the ball.
It was a very good match personally and collectively, Imhoff said. When I dived, the emotions overtook me and I couldnt control them, but I must control them in future to avoid any risk."
Room for improvement
Imhoffs tries against Ireland took his international scoring tally to 16 in 32 matches, or one every other game. At Rugby World Cup 2015 he has scored five tries in five matches, but he believes there is room for improvement in his game.
Aside from the photo (of the swan dive) I have had to watch videos of the things I did wrong in the match and which I need to improve, because there is still much of this tournament to play, the Racing Metro player said.
Pumas centre Jeronimo de la Fuente, who came off the bench to join Imhoff in the backline 12 minutes from time against Ireland, also believes Argentina will have to raise their level of performance against Australia, a side they last beat in 2014.
This is despite watching Michael Cheikas team squeeze through to the last four with a 35-34 win over Scotland.
They may have had a bad day, but we cannot base our preparations on that match, de la Fuente said.
Australia are a great team and have the ability to attack in the last minute thanks to the quality of the players they have. Still, I hope we play as well as Scotland did.
