Argentina returning for the Kenya Safari Sevens next month

Sevens World Series core team Argentina have confirmed their participation in the 20th edition of the Safari Sevens between October 3-4 at the Safaricom Stadium in Nairobi.
Losing finalists in the 2014 edition after going down 7-24 to the Welsh Warriors, the Argentines finished eighth overall in the 2014/15 Sevens World Series with 80 points.
Another core side, Portugal, will also be at Kasarani in their quest for the Robin Cahill trophy. England Saxons, the England Sevens Development squad are also expected to make their debut at the tournament. Regular visitors, Samurai International, are also expected in Nairobi.
Other sides of note already confirmed for the tournament are Zimbabwe, Uganda, Namibia, Italy and Brazil.
Kenya will field two teams at the tournament
Elsewhere The Kenya Rugby Union have appointed TransAfrica Media East Africa (TAM-EA), via the Frontiers Sport Entertainment subsidiary, as their new sports marketing agency. TAM-EA’s role will be to provide end to end commercial strategy, sales and service solutions for the KRU across – sponsorship, broadcasting, marketing, PR and research platforms.
TAM-EA are playing a growing role in the Kenyan sports industry. Some recent notable successes – include assisting Athletics Kenya make a successful bid for the 2017 IAAF World Youth Championships, as well as securing a major new title sponsor for the Kenyan Premier League, SportPesa.
Ronald Bukusi, the KRU Chief Executive Officer said: “Some very positive progress has been made within Kenyan rugby over the past few months and this appointment signals our intention to further grow the sport.”
Maggie Ireri, the Managing Director of TAM-EA, added: “We are delighted to have secured the KRU as a major new client. Our strategy is to work with the best sports entities in East Africa and the KRU definitely falls into that category.”
