Argentina Reports Industrial Production Grew in June

BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina's government statistics agency INDEC reports that industrial production rose 1.2% month-on-month (seasonally adjusted, non-annualized) in June.

On a year-on-year basis, industrial production rose 0.9%, above the consensus expectation of a 1.2% contraction according to a Bloomberg survey.

The rubber and plastics sector showed the strongest performance, increasing 8.3% yoy, followed by 7.8% yoy rise in the editing and printing industry.

The production of automobiles also increased 6.8% yoy.

Among the underperforming sectors, the weakest were the industries of metal-mechanical production and basic metals which fell 8.7% yoy and 6.7% yoy, respectively.
