Argentina: Layoffs Reach 41000

09 de febrero de 2016, 16:55Buenos Aires, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) Since the start of the year 2016, a total of 41,921 state workers at national, provincial and municipal level were laid off, and also inj different branches of the private sector, said a report by local entity Tendencias Económicas y Financieras (TEF).

The list must add 7,865 suspensions, and the report says this amount excels the number in the same month of 2015 80 times, so it has been a great increase of strikes and conflicts.

The results of the report, published by the news agency Télam, diagnose that during the last month there was a "dramátic increase of the labor conflict", with a very marked raise of the discharges, the unemployments and suspensions of personal.

The report showsPrecise Economic and Financial tendencies that "almost half of the discharges was located in the public sector, Headquarters of Cabinet, Congress of the Nation, ministries, provincial governments, provincial public administration, organisms, companies and state dependences.

The discharges in municipalities added 10, 289 and they represented half of those corresponding to the state sector. Although a good part of those discharged were reincorporated, the consultant stands out that the government kept on the revision of contracts, many of them temporary that were not renovated.

The remaining 50 percent of the total discharges was located in diverse branches of the private sector like constructions, metalurgics, pharmaceutical laboratories, trade, refrigerators, gastronomic, editorials, mining, textile, dress and servicies, added Tendencias. The suspensions, added 7,865 in January and they overcame in 3,2 times to the registered ones one year behind. They were verified mainly in the private sector, in air transport, petroleum, autopartes, construction, foods, textile, ceramic and biodiesel industry.
