COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Jalen Brunson scored 16 points to help the United States beat Argentina 118-64 on Sunday night in the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship.
The United States finished the preliminary round 3-0 to set up a semifinal game against the Dominican Republic (2-1) on Monday night. Canada (3-0) will play Argentina (2-1) in the other semifinal. The semifinalists earned spots in the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship in Greece.
“The guys did a good job tonight,” said U.S. coach Billy Donovan of the University of Florida. “I think during our last three games, we’ve gotten better in some areas and we got a chance to learn in some other areas, so we’re excited that we’ve been able to move on and advance to the medal round.”
The U.S. began play with a 156-58 win over Uruguay, and beat Mexico 100-46.
