The 49th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM), Mozambique’s biggest business fair, is due to open Monday in Ricatla, Marracuene, in Maputo province, with the participation of 480 foreign exhibitors representing 20 countries and territories.
The fair will involve companies from South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, Swaziland, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, China, Argentina, Brazil, Portugal, Turkey Germany, Sweden, Italy, Poland and Macau.
Of these, Japan, Sweden, Argentina and Turkey are taking part for the first time in what is Mozambique’s main fair.
By the end of last week over 2,000 foreign and national exhibitors had signed up to take part in Facim/2013, of which 1,393 were Mozambicans.
The representative of Ipex, the event’s organizers, João Macaringue, said recently that this year an additional marquee covering an area of 4,200 square meters would be set up, thus increasing the exhibition area by 1,200 square metres compared to the 2012 fair.
“This edition of the fair has an area of 21,000 square metres in the open air and improvements include an area for farmers, improved control mechanisms at ticket offices and entry into the fair and separate exhibition and leisure areas,” said Macaringue. (macauhub)
