100% Aerial Success: Argentine international provides stability in MUFC’s 4-0 win

Marcos Rojo was finally able to make his Premier League debut in Manchester United's 4-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

After experiencing complications with his work permit following his £16 million summer move, Marcos Rojo made his long-awaited debut in Manchester United's 4-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

Stationed at left-back in place of the injured Luke Shaw, the Argentine international provided stability throughout his first appearance. No doubt the Old Trafford faithful will be hoping he can continue such form as the club look to launch an assault on the Premier League top four. He won every header he was faced with, whilst completing an impressive 92% of his passes - the fourth most of any Manchester United player.

The Red Devil's new number 5 is more accustomed to playing in a centre-back role but his impressive performance on the left will come as no surprise to anyone who witnessed his World Cup displays for Argentina. Unsurprisingly, he linked up extremely well with his fellow countryman Angel Di Maria down the flank in this tie.

Due to the lack of danger posed by QPR, he spent the majority of the match trying to fashion chances at the other end of the field. He showed good pace and strength and was more than happy to push forward to support his attacking team-mates. In fact, the 24-year-old almost assisted his side's opening goal, only to see Robin Van Persie steal the ball off the toe of Ander Herrera.

Other than one notable misunderstanding with David De Gea in the first half, Rojo proved at ease in defence, with perhaps the only disappointment concerning his tackling success. From five attempts, he emerged with possession on just one occasion, while he also committed two fouls. Early signs suggest he will need a brief settling period to adjust to the pace of Premier League football.

Nonetheless, it was a solid debut and with a maiden clean sheet to his name, Rojo will now look to cement a regular sport in Louis Van Gaal's starting-eleven, be it in central defence or at left-back. This encounter proved the perfect opportunity to ease the Argentine international into the Old Trafford set-up, with the outcome sure to have given him an abundance of confidence going forward.
